Thanks for your bugreport.

I can't reproduce the problem here with two ubuntu machines (one breezy, one dapper). I clicked on various buttons, invoked various menus, did some toolbar stuff and then installed some packages.

Can you please provide me a gdb backtrace of the crash? To do this, run (as root):
$ gdb synaptic
(gdb) run
[make it crash]
(gdb) backtrace

I'm running synaptic on a remote system through ssh -X and xhost etc.

Startup okay. When trying to access any of the toolbar buttons of access the menu through the keyboard, crahes occur.

In both cases, crashes quickly.

  • with the mouse on a "mouseover" event. No click needed.
  • with the keyboard, I tried ctrl-F and so on. The menu did not expand but the program just crashes
