Needs ChangeLog (easy to make for whoever is commiting).  I think this can go in so marking it as `In Progress' (which I use as a tag for anything that should go in).

Hello!

while porting I found some packages that assume MAKEDEV will
have a 'generic' target. I made up one basing on the description
from the GNU/Linux MAKEDEV manpage:

       generic
Create  a  generic  subset of devices.  This is the
standard devices, plus floppy drives, various  hard
              drives,  pseudo-terminals,  console  devices, basic
serial devices, busmice, and printer ports.

(leaving mouse and printer)

See patch

cheers,

Looking at that pathc, I notice you left out SCSI devices.  Was that
intentional?

The name sucks.  std sucks already, to have std and generic is hopeless
beyond any reason :)  But if it is just for compatibility, then that's not
so bad.  Just tell me, what packages did you work on that a generic target
exists?

Thanks,
Marcus
