It looks like the window has WM_TRANSIENT_FOR set to an invalid value, so in shadows-of window-by-id returns nil which is then passed to transients-of. This would make it a client bug, albeit one we should handle more gracefully. Alternatively there could be some reason that the window ID in WM_TRANSIENT_FOR has not made it into xwin-to-window.

I got this error on sbcl 1.0.28-lin32 using whatever was in revision control on may-26-09. It happened after launching a new application that wanted to create a centered child window.
