This hasn't happened to me yet on Parkes. Is this still an issue for anyone?

This hasn't happened on my current install. running system:
Linux major 2.6.32.9-libre-lemote #1 PREEMPT Wed Feb 24 04:59:55 UTC 2010 mips64 GNU/Linux

major:~# dmesg |grep wlan
[ 39.436000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
[ 118.700000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready
[ 129.484000] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 183.656000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
[ 202.304000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready
[ 212.740000] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 263.332000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready

this may no longer be an issue, or may be a function of me installing using 2.6.27 instead of 2.6.32. needs more investigation.

appears to happen weather or not network-manager is installed.

linux 2.6.32.x renames wlan0 to wlan1 on boot (check using dmesg |grep wlan, you'll get output like this: udev_ renamed network interface wlan0 to wlan1 )

This has happened to me and at least one other person.
rebooting back into 2.6.27 returns wifi to a working state.

I don't know if its related, but nks is unable to scan wlan1, despite the rename.
wlan1 Failed to read scan data : Operation not permitted
