Hi Timothy,

Thanks for your reply. I have installed ignuit for Ubuntu Karmic from getdeb repository (0.0.16-1~getdeb1). In that package, no sets of flashcards are included, hence my question.

Perhaps it is an idea to separate them into ignuit (application) and ignuit-data (flashcards) and have both packaged for Ubuntu, Debian, etc.

Perhaps when people save a new set, the get a pop-up dialogue with a request to share new sets with the community.via your e-mail address or an URL to this issue tracker. With an option "Don't show this dialogue in the future." it will not be an annoying feature.

I will send you a private message with the collection I have build. I hope the above suggestion can help bringing more pre-packaged sets to end users.

Regards,

Pander

Hi Pander! Two of the three flashcard files you've suggested for inclusion are already included in the source tarball (see the "ignuit-x.x.x/examples" directory).

The third flashcard file available from ignuit's homepage includes audio, and weighs in at 1Mb. I'd rather keep any examples that ship with the program much smaller than that!

So there are two problems here, really:

1) It's probably not obvious enough that the source tarball includes examples. Perhaps installation should place the examples someplace like $prefix/share/ignuit/examples, and the "Open" dialog should start there by default.

2) There's currently nowhere nice for people to upload and find flashcard files made especially for ignuit. My ISP doesn't give me enough webspace to handle something like that, so I'm not quite sure what to do. Ideas would be appreciated :^)

Please ship the next release of ignuit with the ready-made flashcard files that are offered here: http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~trmusson/programs.html

If you welcome this idea, I'm willing to contribute a ready-made ignuit flashcard file for learning Japanese (hiragana, katakana and kanji). Please contact me so I can send you the file.

Shipping ignuit with ready-made flashcard files will offer users the ability to try out the application directly without having to create a set first.
