Looks like the patch from Debian which fixed(?) the issue has been imported and is in the latest startpar code. So I think we can mark this as fixed unless someone objects.

Am marking as fixed and will close the bug if no one speaks up to report a problem with the patch.

If my guess is correct, that might be a good option.
Another would be to move startpar maintainence here. :)

I suspect the problem is with startpar, failing to cope with
a missing/broken tty provided by openvz.

Peter? What do you think? For this looks more like a
bootlogd problem (e.g. not mounted /proc).

Debian Squeeze container on a 2.6.26-2-openvz-686/Lenny host becomes unusable after this update.
After start it shows only one process running, and attempting to enter produces the message:

enter into CT 101 failed
Unable to open pty: No such file or directory
