For 3.0 we use reprepro in the backend. That keeps the tags of unmodified packages. For modified packages, I fixed debderiver to get the tags from Squeeze and supply them as an override to reprepro (see bug #39043).

2.0 will soon be oldstable, so I'm not going to put effort into fixing this in Builder.

It seems that gnusense packages files do not have any tag information, which makes debtags useless.

These informations should be somehow propagated from Debian. Please consider the following discussion, where Enrico proposes some solutions:
