I think this has been fixed by patch #1399.  Can anyone confirm this so I can close this bug?

Specification for implementation is  available in RFC1122: http://www.freesoft.org/CIE/RFC/1122/114.htm

Embedded systems may work hard at long time. Some causes may happened at this time, such as rebooting of peer host or network cable disconnecting. Implementation of keep-alives will be big plus for lwIP stack.
