The general feeling was that the browser shouldn't censor the website author.

There's some disagreement about this in the free distro community [1]. Maybe we shouldn't try to fix this issue, because it's the website developer's suggestion.

I traced it to package kdelibs, source directory khtml/misc/ so far (for 3.5). As a first step I'm trying removing the patch that creates knsplugininstaller. I hope that'll save me from patching patches.

Indeed, I get the pop-up at http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html. Clicking "Download" redirects to http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/.

I was doing some web browsing in Konqueror when I encountered a popup. The popup said:

"No plugin found for 'Shockwave Flash Media'. Do you want to download one from macromedia.com?"

I suppose a quick hack of Konqueror to have it suggest Gnash instead would fix the problem?
