This has been resolved in the following manner: the middle mouse button now engages and disengages the rubber-band.  When the rubber-band is disengaged the inputs for steering, throttle and brakes remain constant (which can be useful for debugging too) and the mouse pointer grab is released so that it may leave the window.

Yes that is a bit of a bother in windowed mode.  Any ideas on what to do here?  Perhaps one solution would be to have the user press any mouse button inside the window to engage the rubber-band at startup.  Although maybe it would be better to revert partially to the old system and have the middle mouse button engage and disengage the rubber-band, although keeping the anchor point pre-specified.  It's not like it's used for something right now anyway.

Hey,
So now the situation is; Yes the rubber band is working from start-up. It turns out that this is kind of a curse in disguise, because it makes it a pain re-positioning my window on the screen.

Hello Simon,

Regarding the first part, this may be due to the fact that all other vehicles apart from the default one are customizations saved via the gui with some previous version.  Can you try to make a new vehicle, save it and see if it too works ok?  If that is the case then you should be able to fix the old vehicles by finding where their specifications are saved in ~/.slipstream.d/configurations/ and checking whether they contain something like this:

['channels'] = ...

if so change the key to __channels or something like it or remove it together with its value if you can.

Regarding the mouse warping issue.  I've fixed this although it's not in CVS yet as I can't commit right now.

Hey, Dimitris,
When I start the session with any bike other than the in-built motorcycle-largesports, the rubber band does not appear until I have reset the sim using the spacebar.
The rubberband then appears and I can control the bike as usual.

Low priority.

The mouse also jumps off to some weird location at the side when I reset using the spacebar, causing an accidental rev of the engine. also low priority.
