For SVN I can see implementations for FreeMono, FreeSans and FreeSerif in regular, bold, italic and bold italic. So as far as I am concerned, this bug can be closed.

FreeMono acquired the capital ess-zet some time ago.  It's in SVN.
I think the excuse had to do somehow with the encoding of small caps.

(Pardon me, Pander--I had forgotten about your report.)

Linux Libertine and Linux Biolinum's glyph looks closely to the cover of Signa magazine.

It took a while for it was supported in Unicode but example use has been aound for a while, see:

If you need this, we can make it.

I'm concerned about your argument -- I have my doubts how many people use FreeMono for graphical work, and how many would get it in their heads to use the (rather fictional) capital sharp-s.  In German, the standard in upper-case text is to render ß as SS (it's not just a convention: Germans like standards).

Identity of coverage between the faces in FreeFont is not a high priority, and there are other bigger problems right now...

Please add missing latin capital letter sharp s in FreeMono, U+1E9E ẞ

Already implementations of these exist for FreeSans and FreeSerif. Also latin small letter sharp s is implemented for all three fonts.

Implementing this glyph will allow users to use latin capital letter sharp s in FreeMono, especially for sings, titling and other graphical work but of course also for word in upper case such as names in running texts.
