First please post feature requests in the "Tasks".
The "Bugs" are ONLY for things that are broken, not new feature requests.

There is already a task for that (task #7282), but since this would mean almost a full rewrite of WeeChat, this will probably never be implemented.

Note: when posting, please search (using menu "Search" in Bugs/Tasks, to be sure there's no similar existing item).

Right now the only way to run alternative gui is to run weechat-curses which is redundand.

It would be more convenient to have headless weechatd running on localhost and all the gui (curses, qt etc) connect to it over weechat protocol.
