This issue is still present in Octave 4.2.0.

The code in comment #0 still throws an error.

Because Octave's internal interface substitutes its own names for named capture groups the \k syntax does not work.

The example below, for finding duplicate characters, should work.


regexp ('abccdeffg', '(?<char1>.)\k<char1>', 'match')
