Hi Sawik
The first suggestion does not seem very useful to me, since you don't even need a click to change the current element (or the atom symbol if the cursor is over an atom). You need to have the window active (not the toolbar), just move the cursor to an atom, and type O for oxygen, N for nitrogen and so on. The full list is given in the documentation.
For other elements, press the ShiftLock key, and the fisrst character of the atom symbol, you'll get the list where you can select the current element.
Second suggestion looks more interesting, I'll add it as new items in the bond contextual menu (when time permits, I'm a bit buzy these days, and there is no other active contributor these days).
