The webpage refers to "9.8" as the release version, and "9.8p" (or whatever) as the current version. Given that, I do not see an incorrect link:

These are "release":

These are "current":

On the page:

The first link:
These are links to the current release version of vile:
The source (gzip'd tar)

Goes to the URL:
Which is a symbolic link to:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 dickey psacln 12 Apr 7 2013 vile.tar.gz -> vile-9.8.tgz
which is:
-rw-r--r-- 1 dickey psacln 2109000 Aug 9 2010 vile-9.8.tgz

This is the 9.8 (2010) version of vile.

The source for the current release version appears to actually be at the following URL:
which is a symbolic link:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 dickey psacln 13 Feb 2 00:04 vile.tar.gz -> vile-9.8p.tgz
that appears to be correctly updated to the current 9.8p release of vile:
-rw-r--r-- 2 dickey psacln 2312139 Feb 2 00:01 vile-9.8p.tgz

Basically, it looks like an error was made in creating the symbolic link for the current version on April 7, 2013. Alternately, it could be an error on the HTML page.

Obviously, there are multiple ways to fix this. It could also be intentional. However, my opinion is that the link on the HTML page should resolve to the current version (9.8p) of the vile source code.
