This seems to be FIXED in Octave 4.2.0.

Pressing the Enter key several times in the GUI terminal of Windows Octave properly generates a new line on each key press. (Tested with official 32bit mxe-octave installer, under WinXP.)

Only after debugging, this does not work, neither in Windows nor in Linux. But this is a different bug, reported in bug #44596.

Yes, and I think this would solve another issue (bug #44596).

The problem is only with the Windows terminal.  Under Linux the GUI terminal emulator works correctly.

hitting just enter should print
just the prompt >> again.
currently the terminal doesn't respond
to multiple enter keystrokes.
