In the manual it says that verbatim input inserts the next keystroke verbatim into the text. (It says "character", but "keystroke" is meant.) However, if during verbatim input nano is stalled (which one can simulate by inserting a sleep(3) at the start of get_verbatim_kbinput()), all the available keystrokes in the keystroke buffer get inserted verbatim. I don't think this is the intention. When the machine is under pressure or a remote connection is choking, this shouldn't result in ^Cs or ^Xs (given far after an M-V) being entered into the text instead of being acted upon.
