Did you make sure you have permissions to write to /dev/nvram?

tpb 0.5.1 works for me with ACPI under Linux 2.6.7 on a ThinkPad X31

when activating the acpi system under kernel 2.4.21 (SuSE) or 2.6 testing, thereĀ“s no onscreen display possible. Going back to apm it works.
Is there a conflict with events written to /dev/nvram ?
Do you have a workaround or solution for this ?
