@Alexander: I just added your screenshot, that it will not be forgotten http://hg.octave.org/web-octave/rev/403bf6acf18a

Now the scroll bar in the background isn't highlighted anymore.

Thank you Alexander looks great. One tiny thing I would change for the pedantic was to propagate the version number 4.4.0 rather than 4.3.0+, if this wasn't too much effort.

Attached a screenshot showing the variable editor.

Yeah, it might be nice to include the variable editor as a new showcase feature. Alexander shared a screenshot with me of 4.3 with the variable editor included.

Done: http://hg.octave.org/web-octave/rev/c4e2b01e2df5

Savannah will be updated in a few minutes.

@Mike: Regarding the "future screenshot update for Octave 4.4", do we really need that? To me 4.2.2 and 4.4 (4.3.0+) look except for the variable editor exactly the same...

Thank you, that looks like a good plan. Adding the comment is a good idea to remind us for future releases. Can you add this bug report URL to the .htaccess comment also for future reference?

Only the URL is required.

This URL https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/img/screenshot.png is an .htaccess rule, thus we can let it point whatever we want to.

If you agree, I update the current screenshot with the 1600x900 version attached and write a comment inside .htaccess to stick to this image resolution for each upcoming update.

Do you only need the URL for the AppStream standard or the file itself?

I attached the plain GIMP .xcf file if you want to do modifications yourself.

The current screenshot of Octave at https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/img/screenshot.png should be exactly 1600x900 to behave well with the AppStream standards.

If that is too constraining, then we should have a dedicated URL for a 1600x900 screenshot that can be referenced by AppStream.

This should be updated for the current Octave 4.2 screenshot, which is the file img/screenshot-octave-4-2.png in the web repository, as well as a future screenshot update for Octave 4.4.

Cc siko1056, any thoughts on this? Can we use a single default screenshot for the web site and AppStream? Or should we have different URLs for each so the web site can be more flexible in the size and aspect ratio if needed?
