I tried gnoppix 0.8 on a system which has a Riva 128ZX video card.
When using the default boot options, it loads the proprietary nvidia kernel driver mini module, continues, fails to start X11 for the obvious reason that the 128 (ZX) cards are not supported, and reboots.
Even when I add "xmodule=nv" to the boot command line, it still loads the nvidia binary module and fails the same way (not sure whether X11 actually used the nv driver, it rebooted to quickly to be able to diagnose anything)
Only when using "xmodule=vesa" it worked.
