In migrating from Gtk2 to Gtk3 I took care of a lot of gtk warnings.  There are still some though, especially when the game first starts.

This is a case of the dol.map file containing an old version marker.  To fix this, you need to install the data files by typing `make install' as root or `sudo make install' as your user.

I am not quite sure if this is the same error.

Version
LordsAWar! version 0.2.0-pre1

What did I do?

  1. I started LordsAWar!: $ lordsawar
  2. I chose "New Game"
  3. I selected "DoI Campaign"
  4. Except for "The Greffians" I set all to Easy
  5. Clicked "Start Game"
  6. Crash

Which error did I get?
http://pastebin.com/NZELPPFB

A random map works.

I compared the decorated version with the one starting LordsAWar with the undecorated windows, then switch to decorated windows and proceed. Result: there are only a few elements differing (like e.g. the menu, some buttons).

I also compared the undecorated version with the one starting LordsAWar with the decorated windows, then switch to undecorated windows and proceed. Result: see above.

Perhaps these elements are buggy.

Number of appearings of the "bunch of warnings":
splash: 1
new game: 2
load game: 0
load scenario:1
new network: 0
new pbm: 2
preferences: 1

starting game: 2
next turn window: 1
hero dialog: 1
city dialog: 1

It also happens in the menu dialogs.

It only happens, when using the decorated windows set. I think these error messages are related to bug #24425. I realized, that switching to decorated windows works without restart, but not properly. The warnings appear also after a restart.

The warnings show, that there's still something wrong with the decorated windows, which isn't solved actually despite the "restart hack".

No, it doesn't crash, but "critical" is a message rated between a warning and an error.

I looked at the development homepage of gnome, but I didn't found something really helpful yet...

Does this cause a crash for you? or are they warnings.

I forgot: This output comes again and again during the whole game. Always these four lines bunched together.

I'm not sure, if the following output is caused by my libraries or LordsAWar!:

Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixmap_new: assertion `(drawable != NULL) || (depth != -1)' failed
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

GDB doesn't give any additional information.
