I see no advance on this issue for over a year and really sorry to see it that way. I still think it is very useful and great time saver feature.

I might be of help if I am given some directions so I do not need to spend a month to get to know the inside mechanics of cvs.

Please also note that I do not check this issue regularly (Actually had totally forgotten).

Please send an email to me if you would to have my help...

Regards,

Hasan Ceylan

I think it's a good idea, in principle at least. I don't know enough about various platforms, etc. to comment authoritatively how feasible it would be in practise.

As always, patches (with tests, etc.) are gladly accepted ;=)

Hi Jim,

Is there any ideas about weather this is a good idea or bad idea?

Yes, most if not all the maintainers watch this list. We cannot guarantee a response to all feature requests made through the bug tracker - the fact that it is here should be sufficient.

Hello,

This is a feature request.

I have been using CVS for a long time and it is been one of my best tools in my development environment. Thanks for the hard work and great product.

Currently cvs client's only way of checking if the local file is updated if time stampt has changed is to pack it and send it over wire to the server.

This is a time consuming process for especially large binary files with cvs server being remote to the client.

Is there or if not is it possible to implement md5 hash caches in the client besides cached server version timestampts so that every time a binary file's timestampt is changed it is not required to have the file sent to the server to check whether contents have been changed?

Regards,
Hasan Ceylan
