"Root device or unknown block" does not sound like a QVM86 problem to me; it sounds like a simple boot-loader problem.  Check very carefully that the kernel image was constructed properly.  Depending on your distro you may or may not want to "just make install" with regards to the kernel module . . .

QVM86 does not appear to work properly with qemu 0.8.0.  I applied the configure patch by hand and everything compiled without any errors.


However, on booting cAos linux I get kernel panics about being unable to open root device or unknown block (0,0) - see attached screen shot.

It would be fantastic if this could be fixed.
