This looks like it was a data problem, which has been fixed in OSM in the meantime. A rendering done today (http://maposmatic.org/jobs/15116) shows the entire Fontainebleau area, including the forest, which seems to be what was expected.

I'm closing the bug, please re-open if the rendering doesn't match what you expect.

Hello,
perhaps it could be interesting to use the landuse=residential surface to limit the rendered map in boundaries that are to large (with large non-residential areas). The street index could still list and name the street that are outside the map.

Hello,
Thank for your answer. I did not understodd everything, but I can see
that the admin bounderies are not correct (boundary='administrative'
and admin_level='8' and name='Fontainebleau'. is correct). The 'real"
surface is much bigger (48.4635-48.3413; 2.5937-2.845 approx). The
builded city itself is small, but the admin surface (with the woods)
is bigger.
The extracted rendered city map is to small and not centered.
Greetings,
Cantece

Looking at the output from ocitysmap, first we are not getting any information about the city's contour. This will prevent the grey outskirt transparent layer from being rendered on the map, which is not a big problem. But this should not prevent the admin boundaries from being correct.

So I'd say that either we don't query the db for the correct admin boundaries, or these boundaries are not recorded properly inside the DB. FYI, for Fontainebleau, the admin boundaries we are working with are: 48.4244,2.7130 48.3987,2.7492. Is that correct ? The query to get that info was: boundary='administrative' and admin_level='8' and name='Fontainebleau'.

hello,
I've checked the map from Fontainebleau. Only half of the town is rendered (5% of admin superficy). perhaps the limits ob boundarie are not closed. should this be checked before rendreing?
