In Parkes, the user needs to manually run update-grub after installing grub-yeeloong. It generates a UUID configuration by default.

just ftr: i guess the correct fix is make sure grub is using uuids from the start.

Do we know what caused this? both of the packages involved (yeeloong-grub and yeelong-base) have been updated several times, so its possible its no longer a problem. its also possible its even more of a problem, since its still open ;)

(This may be a dupe of an existing bug)

Right after installation /boot/grub/grub.cfg has lines like:

linux /boot/... root=/dev/hda3 ...

If you then run update-grub the lines change to:

linux /boot/... root=UUID=... ...

That's inconsistent and therefore annoying. And according to Robert Millan it could break things:

<samgee> how do I disable uuids in grub?
<samgee> and could we have that as the default setting, because others have seen this problem too
<samgee> ahh, grub_disable_linux_uuid=true
<nyu> samgee: unfortunately it breaks other setups
