Likely it is an issue of the BIOS itself. Please try to update BIOS to the latest one and reproduce the issue.

And send me or attach to this bug a dmi binary of your machine that you can collect with "dmidecode --dump-bin"

Thanks!

Hello,

I have 4 X 4gb 1600 c9 ddr3 Vengeance memory modules installed no an intel dh77eb (H77 chip) motherboard with latest bios version and intel i5-3450 CPU. Im running Kubuntu 12.04 LTS.

I set the clock speed at 1600.

Bios reports 1600.

Memtest86 reports 1600.

sudo hdparm -T /dev/sda:
Timing cached reads:   22502 MB in  2.00 seconds = 11261.54 MB/sec

sudo dmidecode --type memory:

# dmidecode 2.11
SMBIOS 2.7 present.

...

my guess would be that 1600 and not 1333 is the correct reading.
