This will be addressed by https://github.com/rdiff-backup/rdiff-backup/issues/1 so that you can check for 1 (error) vs. 2 (difference) in return code.

The same behaviour occurs when using any of the --compare* options.

It is maybe the desired behaviour as when rdiff-backup is comparing directories, it is not backuping !

But comparing should not be considered as an error !

I'm using the following command line to check if my backup will be ok:

rdiff-backup --exclude-globbing-filelist /home/user/conf/rdbackup.exclude --compare-full /home/user /media/user/external/backup

This leads to exit with exit code "1" when I expect a "null" exit code. This makes my whole backup script to fail as I'm checking the return code of rdiff-backup.

When not using the "--compare-full" flag, everything seems to be ok :

rdiff-backup --exclude-globbing-filelist /home/user/conf/rdbackup.exclude /home/user /media/user/external/backup

I'm using rdiff-backup on debian with ext4 filesystem on source and destination.
