The current functionality of autosave needs an update. The current update one singular file, which most of the time, is ok. But what if, for example in the case of -test-games-nox, a console crashes? That autosave file will be overwritten moments after.

My suggestion is as follows:

  • Clear the Autosaves folder on game startup (so we dont get files 10 weeks old) and when a -test-games-nox game completes (in which case, its bug free)
  • Make the filename (externally and internally) a user friendly version like "Autosave_Playground"
  • If "Autosave_Playground" exists, add a number to the end of the internal and external filename, working up till an available filename is free, example: "Autosave_Playground_1", "Autosave_Playground_2", "Autosave_Playground_3" etc.

This means that players can easily find the file they want, store multiple autosave without it being overwritten, but still have a tidy games folder.

It also means I can run 4 consoles with -test-games-nox, and know that I can get the autosave easily if the game crashes.
