This bug is related to #26848 which has a good patch.

This is with 1.2.5, but I don't see anything in the changelogs to suggest that this has been addressed.

When verifying a repository, rdiff-backup fails to take hardlinked files into account. (As you know, these files only have the SHA1 digest recorded once in the metadata; the other entries have the inode/device information, but no hash.)

The end result is that some rather confusing (if ultimately harmless) warnings are printed out:

$ rdiff-backup --verify /srv/backup
Warning: Cannot find SHA1 digest for file var/log/ntpstats/loopstats.20050403,
perhaps because this feature was added in v1.1.1
Warning: Cannot find SHA1 digest for file var/log/ntpstats/peerstats.20050403,
perhaps because this feature was added in v1.1.1
Every file verified successfully.

(This was for a repository created with 1.2.5, so the "perhaps" bit is completely bogus.)
