Hi,

This is not a bug for me, but a feature request.
And there is already a task: task #7395
Please add to this task if you have extra info.

This feature is planned for near future.
Since WeeChat is console-based app, I'm not sure using Gnome Keyring is a good idea, anyway I'll examine all possible solutions.

Storing passwords in plaintext configuration files are obvious security risk.

Please add (optional) support for keyring: https://live.gnome.org/GnomeKeyring

This will not only improve overall weechat security but will allow to share credentials between various applications hence making migration to weechat easier.
