gdb-cvs-5.x-avr-patch-0.0-pre2 is available

Item posted by Theodore A. Roth <troth> on Tue 19 Feb 2002 09:40:20 PM UTC.

The gdb-cvs-5.x-avr-patch-0.0-pre2 patch is now available. This patch should be applied to the current cvs version of gdb as of 2002-02-19 (see http://www.gnu.org/software/gdb/current/). This patch will not work with gdb-5.1.

This updated patch fixes suggestions from <http://sources.redhat.com/gdb/ari/>. I've made some changes which allow the `call func()` gdb command to work (this needs more extensive testing). The gdb/config/tm-avr.h has been removed (true gdbarch targets don't use it) thus it is no longer possible to use .avrgdbinit instead of .gdbinit [just do use this instead: `avr-gdb -nx -x my_avr_gdbinit`].

I need people to help test this patch. GDB-5.2 is scheduled for release at the end of March 2002. If I don't get enough positive feedback, I'm not going to submit the patch for inclusion until the next release cycle. I would like to get a pre3 patch out next week based on feedback from this patch.

Also, I'm still waiting for the fsf people to send me some paper work so that I can even submit the patch. It's possible that the paper work will not be done in time for gdb-5.2. :-(

Get the patch here:
