Glad to release davfs2 version 1.7.0. This release brings support to FreeBSD and contains minor bugfixes as well.
davfs2 development migrated from cvs to git. Future releases will be taken from 'main' branch.

Starting from now davfs2 is no longer maintained by me but by Ali Abdallah who stepped up for this task.
Ali is a mathematician, computer scientist and free software enthusiast. He is the original author of the power manager and the
multimedia player software shipped with the Xfce desktop.
In addition, he contributed code to various components of the Xfce project, a recent contribution to the TCP connection tracking in the Linux kernel, and some code contribution and bug fixes to the FreeBSD project.
He is currently working for SUSE as Linux L3 Engineer.
My best wishes are with Ali and his work to maintain and further enhance davfs2.

I just released version 1.6.1 with some minor bugfixes.
This is my last release of davfs2. Future releases will be done by a new maintainer.
I don't use davfs2 myself for many years now and would like to hand the project over to someone with more interest than me.
Please contact me by email.

The new release brings:
This is a bugfix release. Please see file ChangeLog for details.
An new version is available. Please see the ChangeLog file for a list of bugs that have been fixed in this version.
Just after releasing 1.5.3 two important bugs showed up that needed fixing.
- mount.davfs frequently reads /proc/mounts. This is necessary with coda but not with fuse. When running two instances of mount.davfs using fuse these reads may trigger a kernel bug and create a deadlock.
- when mount.davfs receives SIGTERM it stops reading from the fuse device. In this case kernel fuse will make umount(8) hang forever.
Both bugs are fixed in release 1.5.4.
This release fixes a stack smashing error that only showed on 32-bit systems and when compiled with -fstack-protector-all.
A backward incompatible change in util-linux caused umount to fail. This release fixes the problem.
Release 1.5.1 adds some minor bug fixes and improvements. Please see ChangeLog for details.
Release 1.5.0 fixes most of the known bugs and adds many of the suggested features and submitted patches.
Please note that some new configuration options have been added and some configuration options have been changed. After installation you have to copy your configuration of the system wide configuration file from the backup file into the newly created file. Users should rename their ~.davfs2/davfs2.conf and ~.davfs2/secrets files and let davfs2 create new templetes when it is started the first time. After this they should copy their configuration from the backup files into the new templates.

Sorry for the delay.
I always thought I could do some bigger changes soon and don't have to make a release for bug-fixes. This was an error.
So here is a release that contains the bug-fixes from the last two years.
Nothing new. Just two bugs fixed.
This release fixes some of the more stupid bugs in 1.4.2 up to 1.4.4.
Sorry, I forgot an easy to implement feature in 1.4.2.
This release mainly brings support vor Neon 0.29 and also activates Neon's support for NTLM authentication.
Option 'askauth 0' will now also prevent questions about suspicious SSL-certificates. They will silently not be accepted.
There is also experimental support for command line option 'username' which is needed by pam_mount.
Additional some bug fixes and work arounds for server bugs.

This release mainly fixes bugs that have been discovered since version 1.4.0. It also improves upload of changed files in the case of an unreliable connection and the retrieval of quota information from the Server.
Thanks to Dirk Arend for the many proposals for bug fixes and improvements.
This is the first release since davfs2 moved to Savannah.
Apart from fixing known bugs there are significant changes in the default configuration. If you update from an older version you may have to update your davfs2.conf file too, depending on your WebDAV-server. Please carefully read the NEWS file.
Besides the source distribution there is also a binary distribution for convenience which should run on many current GNU/Linux systems. But to avoid trouble with incompatible libraries the source distribution is recommended.
