A quick, unversioned source package has been released to patch 2 source packaging bugs reported by Vincent Deffontaines. Thank you for testing.
The source currently available from the wiki is now up to date, and should work properly when compiling and installing.
Sorry for the trouble, and enjoy playing.
I'm happy to announce the release of Beta 1. Its been months of work, lots of bugs to fix, and hours of testing, but Beta 1 is now stable enough to be released to the public.
The most notable changes for this release are the major rewrites to the Core and YOG engines that took place(big thanks to Bradley for all his hard work), increasing stability and speed, the switch from automake to scons, and the license change from GPL v2 to GPL v3.
A full change log is available at http://globulation2.org/wiki/Changes#Changes_in_0.9.1_.28released_20070901.29
Please continue to show your support by download Globulation 2 (http://globulation2.org/wiki/Download_and_Install) and reporting any bugs you find at the bug tracker (http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=additem&group=glob2).
As always, we'd like to thank everyone that contributed to the release. Beta 2 is already in development, with an exciting particle engine and much improved Nicowar on their way, along with the regular bug fixes.
So have fun playing. Beta 1 truly is a big step up for the project/game.

Alpha 23 has been released. This release fixes some bugs introduced in alpha 22 which crashed the game, and made it hard to play.
This release is what we hope will be the last before a major rewrite takes place, which could take a month or two (or possibly longer).
So enjoy it.
Globulation 2 will be having a bug day this coming Saturday (14/04/2007) to find and fix as many bugs in CVS as possible to ensure a better, stabler Alpha 23 release which should hopefully be out soon. You can find more details about this bug day here on this page: http://globulation2.org/wiki/Bug_day_20070414
Things done on this day will include loading and playing games, testing all features including map editor, playing multiplayer games including hosting, and compiling the code on various operating systems including Windows.
Everyone is welcome to join us on the IRC channel (http://globulation2.org/wiki/IRC) to talk about the day and voluntary offer their help.

Or view the list of changes here:
http://globulation2.org/wiki/Changes#0.8.19_.28released_20060312.29
The most notable changes in this release are the revamp of the tutorial, which now includes many more aspects of globulation 2, and various GUI improvments suggested by Ellen Reitmayr from http://OpenUsability.org/

Theres been a few changes the savannah recently. As well as updates to content and links, there is a brand new mailing list people can subscribe to. You can find it here:
http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/glob2-announce
As the description says, it is there for receiving announcments related to new releases of globulation 2, significant website/forum changes, or other important events you might want to hear about (competitions and the like).
Its got all the same settings as the devel mailing list so there shouldn't be any problem subscribing and posting, although I hope to find an option to turn off non admins/moderators from sending new mails, only replies to existing ones. But for now, it should do. The first mail should be for the release of Alpha19.
From now on, this Savannah Project site will be active for the first time in a while. Old links have either been updated or removed, a new mailing list called glob2-announce (which will send out release notifications) will soon be available to subscribe to, the news section will become active as of now (this message) and continue updating when new releases are made, translation jobs have been posted in an effort to get glob2 fully translated, and the description on the main page has been expanded.
