The book has finally been completed. You can download it from the "files" section or order a printed version online at http://www.cafeshops.com/bartlettpublish.8640017
In addition, this book is being used this semester in the Princeton University COS 217 course. You can read the syllabus at http://www.cs.princeton.edu/courses/archive/spring04/cos217/
Downloads from Savannah are now working! You can now download the official version from the "Filelist" on the main project page. I will also keep my alternate version up-to-date or redirected here for the next few months.
Also released a new version which is the first completed draft. This is the 0.8 release. I should have an editted and fully-indexed version of this to ship as 1.0 by February 1st.
If you want to be notified when this book is finished, or when it is available in hardcopy, please see http://www.bartlettpublishing.com/ and sign up for the notification list.
Savannah is still working on it's file downloading service. Until it is fixed, you can find the latest Programming from the Ground Up at http://www.eskimo.com/~johnnyb/ProgrammingGroundUp.pdf
These will all be bleading-edge snapshots (not that it matters much for a book, but just know that I'm not assigning version numbers to these). Email me at johnnyb@eskimo.com if you have any problems.
Dominick and I are working hard to have a finalized release by mid-January. Progress is going very well. When it is released, it will be published at http://www.bartlettpublishing.com/
We are also waiting to hear back from a college to see if this book is going to be used in one of their classes. Stay tuned for more information!
Also note that I am still working on getting Savannah CVS sync'd up with my own version, since the Savannah meltdown a few weeks ago, so if you need the latest version as XML or PDF, please email me at johnnyb@eskimo.com.
