Corresponding source code
This patch tries to optimize the ET machinery to handle
assigns more efficently (i.e. help the compiler somewhat),
as ET assigns are used with guard updates and they tend to
pop up surprisingly high in the profiles.
Causes some testsuite failures, though.
Suspended. Just in case somebody else thinks of using
specialization to optimize some ET usage.
