Corresponding source code
While working with the code of kb2kskype, I found that usbb2k_api was writing repeated events to the socket, rather than reporting an event only once, when it first occurs. With this patch, events are reported only once.
There was also a problem (possibly aggravated by my antiquated handset?) with spurious characters appearing on the socket. This patch seems to have solved that problem as well, but I have not tested to be sure.
