This group is not part of the GNU Project.

The aim of Adonthell is the creation of a 2D, graphical, single player role playing game and the required engine.

Main emphasis of the game lies on good gameplay rather than on realism; it will be a well-balanced mixture of fast-paced realtime combat, head-cracking puzzle elements and extensive dialogues.

The engine core is written in C++, but highly customizable through the embedded Python interpreter. Engine and game data are strictly separated to allow the creation of completely different RPGs with the same engine.

While we work on completing the engine, we will release fully playable demo games from time to time, that make use of the available engine functionality.

Details (job description, contact ...):

Adonthell would like to enlarge its core team with additional developers. as time constraints and real live obligations of current members have slowed down progress.

Adonthell is a graphical single player role playing game, written in C++ and Python. The engine is highly modularized and provides Python bindings to script in-game elements like characters and items. More information about the technical aspects can be found in the Architecture documentation at http://adonthell.berlios.de/doc/index.php/Architecture:Contents . An independent analysis of the project is provided by Ohloh: http://www.ohloh.net/projects/758?p=Adonthell

We are looking for developers with experience in C++ (and optionally Python) who can help to complete the game engine according to the plans laid out in our road map: http://adonthell.berlios.de/doc/index.php/Tasks:Road_Map .
Development is based on the current 0.4 alpha 1 release available at http://adonthell.linuxgames.com/download/preview.shtml and will commence as time allows. The current team is small and friendly and will do its best to get you up to speed with Adonthell's code base: http://adonthell.berlios.de/api/

Looking forward to hearing from you.

-- Kai & the Adonthell team.
