ReCaged is a Free Software, Futuristic, Racing/Demolition/Vehicular Combat Game.

With the main inspiration taken from the "Rollcage" and "Rollcage: Stage II" games, it has been written from scratch with focus on high simulation realism and flexibility. It also supports highly detailed 3D models for both rendering and collision detection.

The project started in 2006 under the name "RollCageX", but the name was changed to "ReCaged" in 2011 to avoid legal issues.

ReCaged version 0.7.1 released
posted by slinger, Thu 14 Dec 2023 07:19:40 PM UTC

A while back 0.7.1 was released, but I forgot to write about it here!

As the version suggests, this is only a minor update. It fixes builds on modern systems and is just meant for historical preservation.

You can find the release here:
http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/recaged/0.7.1/
And more information (including file integrity verification) at the homepage:

ReCaged got a new website!
posted by slinger, Wed 17 Apr 2013 02:30:30 PM UTC

ReCaged now got a new website, complete with a forum:
http://recaged.net/
http://forum.recaged.net/

The hosting is kindly provided by TuxFamily: http://tuxfamily.org/

The git and download repositories will remain on Savannah, which will probably also be used to host a bug tracker in the future.

Kind Regards!

To users of Debian Squeeze (Stable)
posted by slinger, Sun 22 Jan 2012 01:26:21 PM UTC

There appears to be a bug with the ode library (or more precisely how it was compiled) on Squeeze (but not Wheezy). This causes a simulation error right at the start (on collision between two trimeshes).

The best solution is to recompile the package "libode1" using the standard apt tools (just recompiling the same version seems to remove the error). See the homepage for more info.

ReCaged version 0.7.0 released

Well, the new version is finally done.

You can get it at:
http://www.nongnu.org/recaged/downloads.html#v0.7.0
or for a cleaner list of files:
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/recaged/0.7.0/

There'll be some time until I'll be able to code again (have just started studying again). But I hope the project will stay alive.

I think that's all... Now: get rolling!
