I think I'm having a similar problem if not the same
problem.  spamass dies almost every weekend... when spam
volume is highest.  Note that we only have 5 users on the
machine I'm testing it on, so this is not a great deal of
mail... about 150 spam/day and maybe twice that on weekends.

I'm running the lastest available spamass version with
patches 372 and 404.  This is on BSDI 4.2.

Basically what happens is the following messages are
logged, spamass dies, and you can't restart it without
removing the sock file.

Jul 26 21:25:17 mezoti sendmail[24451]: g6R3PFRV024451:
milter_read(spamassassin): cmd read returned 0, expecting 5
Jul 26 21:25:17 mezoti sendmail[24451]: g6R3PFRV024451:
Milter (spamassassin): to error state
Jul 26 21:27:37 mezoti sendmail[24459]: g6R3RaRV024459:
Milter (spamassassin): error connecting to filter:
Connection refused by /var/run/spamass.sock
Jul 26 21:27:37 mezoti sendmail[24459]: g6R3RaRV024459:
Milter (spamassassin): to error state

Could you tell me, how to get a trace of the stack? Then I
will send you one.

Could you get me a stack trace of one of these failures?

When two or more mails are processed at the same, the
spamass-milter process dies. The entries in the log are
not clear. If I use two 100k mails, this log occured:

Jul 12 16:24:09 dionysos sendmail[9221]:
g6CENu0i009221:Milter add: header: X-Spam-Status: Yes,
hits=37.9,required=5.0,tests=SUBJ_ALL_CAPS,CASHCASHCASH,ONCE_IN_LIFETIME,GUARANTEE,EXCUSE_3,REMOVE_SUBJ,REMOVE_IN_QUOTES,CALL_NOW,UNIVERSITY_DIPLOMAS,CLICK_BELOW,PREST_NON_ACCREDITED,BULK_EMAIL,LINE_OF_YELLING,NORMAL_HTTP_TO_IP,MAILTO_WITH_SUBJ,MAILTO_WITH_SUBJ_REMOVE,SUPERLONG_LINE,JAVASCRIPT,HTML_WITH_BGCOLOR,SLIGHTLY_UNSAFE_JAVASCRIPT,CLICK_HERE_LINK,MAILTO_LINK,MAILTO_TO_SPAM_ADDR,REALLY_UNSAFE_JAVASCRIPT,MAILTO_TO_REMOVE,NUMERIC_HTTP_ADDR,HTTP_USERNAME_USED,version=2.11

Jul 12 16:24:09 dionysos spamass-milter[8478]:

Jul 12 16:24:09 dionysos sendmail[9221]:g6CENu0i009221:

expecting 65535
Jul 12 16:24:09 dionysos sendmail[9221]:g6CENu0i009221:
Milter (spamassassin): to error state

On the other hand, using two 10k mails this happens:
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]: poll
says I can write
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]: ::input
exit
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]: wrote

Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]: ::output
exit
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]:
::read_pipe exit
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos  above message repeats 9 times
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos spamass-milter[9268]:
mlfi_header: exit
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos sendmail[9311]:
g6CEnf0i009311: milter_read(spamassassin): cmd read
returned 0, expecting 5
Jul 12 16:49:45 dionysos sendmail[9311]:
g6CEnf0i009311: Milter (spamassassin): to error state

If I am sending the mails separated, everything works
fine. I am using spamassassin 2.11, spamass-milter
0.1.1 (v1.8) together with patch 349, sendmail8.12.5,
and OS HPUX11.0.
Can anybody help me to fix this?

Regards,
Winnie
