Please don't ask for features if you are not willing to give them a try and report whether they are working.

I intended to address this issue in the next - multi-threaded - major release which never had time to do.
Now that you have run into this problem I have added a small routine to scan the node list and remove currently not needed nodes.
The changes are in the CVS repository. Please test it and report your experience.

If you don't like building from CVS I would be happy to send you a prerelease package.

Note:
You have to add option 'minimize_mem 1' to davfs2.conf.
Changing permissions of individual files and directories will not make much sense anymore, as these changes are stored in the nodes (not on the server) and will be lost with the node.

Cheers
Werner

If a davfs2 filesystem is mounted on machines with limited working memory, i.e. a DSL-router with busybox linux, the machine crashes when parsing large filesystems. The maximum amount of parsable files depends on the available memory on the target machine.
To run davfs2 on tiny machines, it would be necessary to clean the node list from time to time, even if the performance decreases.
