I am not sure, but this looks like an error caused by an incompatibility between some versions of OpenSSL on the server and GnuTLS used by libneon27-gnutls. There are cases when the client requests a higher protocol version of TLS and the server fails to correctly negotiate the protocol version. (davfs2 in Lenny used libneon with OpenSSL).

If this is the case the only way to get it working is to build davfs2 against libneon27 (and not libneon27-gnutls). To do this:

- remove the davfs2 package

- install the libneon27 headers (package libneon27-dev). libneon27-gnutls-dev must not be installed. But there is no problem with having both libneon27 and libneon27-gnutls installed. It's only the dev-packages that confilict.

- get the davfs2 sources (I suggest the latest from Savannah) and unpack

-run './configure', 'make' and (as root) 'make install'

If it does not work you can easily undo this with 'make uninstall'.

Hello Werner,

we are using davfs2 on an Ubuntu 12 LTS See the versions below:

Version: 1.4.6-1ubuntu3

Version: 0.29.6-1

Version: 0.29.6-1

We get an error when we try to mount the remote file system:

Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: Request sent; retry is 0.
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: Aborted request (-5): Konnte Status-Zeile des Servers nicht lesen
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: sess: Closing connection.
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: sess: Connection closed.
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: Request ends, status 0 class 0xx, error line:#012Konnte Status-Zeile des Servers nicht lesen: Secure connection truncated
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: Running destroy hooks.
Jan 17 12:53:31 service2 mount.davfs: Request ends.

This is a little bit strange because sometimes we can mount the file system but the most of the time we get the error above ('Abort request (-5)'). As we have no control over the server we try to connect to, we can not access the log file on that machine. I searched for the above mentioned error message but I could not find any hints that would solve our problem.

We can connect to the server without problems with our old debian machine which has 'lenny' installed.

Version: 1.3.3-3

Version: 0.28.2-6.1

Version: 0.28.2-6.1

Do you have a suggestion for us?
