This doesn't show up in with the --fast-mode
--fast-mode disables the background,
which, I think this bug has something to do with.

with higher 'pingus -g' settings, items sometimes don't get erased

example:
Let's say I play using
pingus -f -g 1920x1200
and try playing story->Three Solutions, it's up to you, or Miners's heaven, ...
when the pingus fall off the side instead of just seeing one fall down I see a smear of one form, and when scrolling left and right the platforms, etc, don't erase correctly.  This error seams to be based on the background.
and also the background that was there before the level started is still there somewhat behind the level

p.s/miscellaneous:
I'm on KUbuntu 8.4.1_64 using a NVidia Graphics card
Playing at 1920x1200 is a lot less crampt feeling than an enlarged 800x600.
When run from Konsole I've seen this message
Resource: Couldn't load sprite: ''
