Attached a patch applicable to the Red Hat / Fedora packages of version 0.3.1 - extremely useful for single mail host setups where (authenticated) users need to send mail through the same server that receives mail for the organization. Slower servers or larger SA rulesets often resulted in timeouts when the users tried to submit their mail through this server and this patch prevents that.

Slight revision to the earlier patch, also submitted to debian maintainer.

(1) Man page entry
(2) Just in case we're running on an old libc, make sure we
never print %s where %s is null in the debug string.
(3) I've verified, all memory is cleaned up, I was just paranoid.

Here is a patch that adds a -I flag to do what I suggested.

I am a little unclear of the object destruction path for milters, this may cause a memory leak, please examine it for accuracy. Also, sorry, I did not include a manpage update.

If you have any comments, please feel free to poke me. I've done minimal testing on a sendmail/debian setup and it seems to work well.

Dan,

Right now we use -i to have the milter ignore mail from safe hosts, but I roam all over the place... would it be possible to add a -I flag so that spamass-milter can check to see if the mail is coming from an authenticated relay, and if so, not run things through the milter?

The problem isn't that the users are generating spam, it's more the delay that it takes for our poor mailserver to process a message through spamassassin (5-20 seconds) is annoying when we send e-mail .

Thanks,

Paul
