I faced same problem on my DS110j with DSM 5.0-4458 ((gcc 3.4.6, neon 0.29.6 installed).

Tried workaround of Rainer but overlooked the dot in "ln -s /lib/libdl.so.2 ."; resolved the link and created again.

Afterwards my DS raised error "libdl.so.2 missing". After reboot no more telnet or http connection to my DS possible, but ping is working.

Given that I'm no UNIX expert - do you have any advice for me to reconfigure my DS without complete reinstallation?

Works perfect with DSM411slim and DSM 5.0-4458

Thanks!

Thank you for your workaround Rainer,
it works great with DS213+ and DSM 4.2-3211 !

Hi, same problem on my Synology DS213+ with DSM 4.2 (gcc 3.4.6, neon 0.29.6), but I found the following workaround (using http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/davfs2/davfs2-1.4.7.tar.gz):

> cd /volume1/@optware/powerpc-linux-gnuspe/lib
> mv libdl.so.2 libdl.so.2-old
> ln -s /lib/libdl.so.2 .
> cp /opt/bin/cpp /lib

create a new file /opt/lib/gcc/powerpc-linux-gnuspe/3.4.6/include/syslimits.h:
/* syslimits.h stands for the system's own limits.h file.
If we can use it ok unmodified, then we install this text.
If fixincludes fixes it, then the fixed version is installed
instead of this text. */

#define _GCC_NEXT_LIMITS_H /* tell gcc's limits.h to recurse */
#include_next <limits.h>
#undef _GCC_NEXT_LIMITS_H

Then the compilation works:

> ./configure --prefix=/opt --with-neon=/opt
> make
> make install

Good luck,
Rainer

The error happens here:

configure:5754: checking for neon library in /opt
configure:5758: result: found

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure:5805: $? = 1

conftest.c was:

#include <ne_utils.h>
int
main ()
{
ne_version_match(0, 0);
;
return 0;
}

There is a problem with libdl.so, the dynamic linker, not with the Neon version. Did you build any other dynamically linked program on this system successfully? How did you build your Neon library?
I have no experience with and no access to a system like yours. The best place to look would be some forum for your NAS system.

Could you please search your config.log for lines starting with

configure:5871: checking for neon-config
configure:5889: found /usr/bin/neon-config
configure:5902: result: /usr/bin/neon-config
configure:5927: checking linking against neon
configure:5943: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -I/usr/include/neon -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -DNE_LFS conftest.c -lneon >&5
configure:5943: $? = 0
configure:5951: result: yes

The line numbers may be different. There should be some error messages. The Neon version seems to be ok. But maybe the testprogram fails for some reason, which would result in the same error message "incompatible neon library version".

The test for CFPreferencesCopyAppValue fails on my system too. This seems not to be a problem.

As it is "the same issue" please do as Andrey in comment #2 and you will get the same result.

Otherwise:
What about some information:
Your system is not a standard Gnu/Linux system; I have no idea about the davfs2 version; your commandline; ...

Anyway: this looks like a problem very specific to your device/OS. Please check forums, HowTos and Help Desks for this specific device first.

I followed exactly the same instruction. But looks like something was wrong with packages installed. I've deleted ipkg and installed everything again and it works now.

Thanks for davfs2 and... sorry for bothering.

You can.

Are you sure you installed all the required packages, e.g. optware-devel?

MY-NAS> ipkg list_installed neon*
neon - 0.29.3-1 - an HTTP and WebDAV client library, with a C interface
Successfully terminated.

MY-NAS> ./configure --prefix=/opt --with-neon=/opt --with-ssl
...
checking for neon library in /opt... found
checking linking against neon... no
configure: incompatible neon library version 0.29.3: wanted 0.25 26 27 28 29
configure: error: could not find neon

Can not I configure that with neon 0.29.3?
