Description:
------------
BCC is a library written in C. It implements the building blocks of a
data analysis pipeline which aims to detecting and estimating chirping
signals in random noise describe in the following paper:

E. Chassande-Mottin and A. Pai
Best chirplet chain: near-optimal detection of gravitational wave chirps. Phys. Rev. D, 73(042003):1-23, 2006.

http://www.apc.univ-paris7.fr/~ecm/05chirpletchain/05chirpletchain.pdf

BCC has been developped initially in the context of gravitational wave
detection with large-scale detectors such as Virgo
(http://www.virgo.infn.it) or LIGO (http://www.ligo.org).  However, it
adresses a general question which is common to many fields like the
music transcription, under-water or biological acoustics, etc.

A companion package BCC_APPS implements the pipeline including IO,
data handling and calls the processing routines of BCC. It generates
an executable [bcc_search] which can be tested with the scripts
in test/

The following URLs point to the alpha version of the two packages:

http://www.apc.univ-paris7.fr/~ecm/bcc.tgz
http://www.apc.univ-paris7.fr/~ecm/bcc_apps.tgz

Only a small part of the code is currently documented. This will be
one of our priority in the next future.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
  gcc
FFTW v3
optionally on Frame lib http://wwwlapp.in2p3.fr/virgo/FrameL/
