Hello,

I have finished to make the required changes:

- the address of the FSF has been fixed everywhere
- OpenSSL has been replaced by GNUTLS

The client part of Schedwi is then available at the following address:
http://www.box.net/index.php?rm=box_v2_download_shared_file&file_id=f_40073064

And the server part is available at:
http://www.box.net/index.php?rm=box_v2_download_shared_file&file_id=f_40073062

Let me know if something else has to be fixed.

Thank you,

Herve

Hi Herve,

Great to hear that you are making progress. The reason I wrote the last comment was only to check if the project is still being worked on and that you still want your project to be hosted at Savannah. Also, there is no need for closing the submission. Just let me know once you are done implementing the needed changes.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi Stephan,

I'm working on it and I expect to be able to resubmit the new version around mid-february.
If you have however a limit to close a submission, you can close it and I re-opened it later.

Regards,

Herve

Hi Herve,

Since I haven't heard from you since 12/20/2006 I wanted to ask if you have made any progress implementing the changes yet.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi Herve,

After reviewing the sourcecode I have noticed following problems.

First, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02110-1301 USA

Please update your license notices.

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

Updated versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

Secondly, your software does depend on OpenSSL. The OpenSSL license is incompatible with the GPL and hence combining works licensed under these licenses tends to be problematic. Please see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html for details.
We do recommend using GNUTLS in this case. GNUTLS can be found at http://www.gnu.org/software/gnutls. Would you agree on using GNUTLS or another free alternative with a GPL-compatible license instead?

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project. Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I still want to host my project at Savannah.

I've attached the client part of Schedwi to this tracker.
The server and GUIs parts are too big to be uploaded this way. They however use the same standards as the client. I can send them to you by email if you want me to.

Thanks,

Herve

Hi Herve,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi Herve,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code. Alternatively, you can forward the code to me by email or attach it to this tracker.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GNU GPL you must include a copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long. This is explained in http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html. Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Note that sending code to our repositories is a release, since the code will then be publicly available through anonymous access.

My email address can be found at https://savannah.gnu.org/u/sp.

Regards,

Stephan

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

 • Name: Schedwi
 • System Name: schedwi
 • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
 • License: GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description: The aim of this project is to develop a task scheduler which can run scripts or commands on remote clients, or agents, at a specified date and time. Its chaining capability allows tasks to be run in sequence.
The project is composed of the following components:

 • The server schedules the tasks and submits them to the clients. The execution of a task can be triggered by date and time but also by the result of a previous task or by the existence of a file on a remote client.

 • The clients (or agents) receive the task requests from the server and run them on the local host. They report the execution status to the server.

 • An interface allows the administrators to follow the task scheduling in real time and to define new tasks.

All the components are developed in C. The agent depends only on the basic systems libraries (and optionally OpenSSL) . The server requires a MySQL database. The GUI requires Gnome.
All the programs run on GNU/Linux. The agent has also been tested on other operating systems (FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSd, MacOS X, Sun OS, HP-UX, Windows, QNX Neutrino, Syllable).
The software is a free and licensed under the GNU General Public License.

The source code is partly functional but not yet available through a URL. I can send it by email if need be (2.11 Mb)

Other Software Required: A C compiler (tested with GCC)
OpenSSL
MySQL
Gnome Desktop Environment
