If you wish to use Savannah for hosting ctpp, please submit a new request for the project.

Best regards,
Kenneth Geisshirt

The copyright notices and other administrivia are updated.  You
can find the distros at:

https://sourceforge.net/project/ctalk-lang/ctalk-0.0.18a.tar.gz?modtime=1194840263&big_mirror=0

https://sourceforge.net/project/ctalk-lang/ctpp-1.0.22.tar.gz?1194837688&big_mirror=0

I do not think its worth the reprisal to be stating the reasons why Savannah should not be the exclusive distribution point of a language project.  Sourceforge.net, at least, does not demand exclusivity.

However, if you would like to host the preprocessor project, ctpp, that would be acceptable, because the preprocessor is of widespread interest mostly as part of Ctalk.

thank you again

Excuse me, I didn't receive a notice of the previous posting.  I'll address those issues a.s.a.p.

Hi,

After reading your documentation closely, I have noticed the
following.

The address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in
your package as well.

Updated versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

You can find some background and a possible migration script at
https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

(alternatively the GNU (L)GPLv3 standard notices include different
wording that do not mention the FSF snail mail address - see
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html#howto)

Savannah is a central point for development, distribution and
maintenance of GNU Software.

There is a companion site savannah.nongnu.org where we also host Free
Software projects that are not part of the GNU Project, but run on
free platforms.

However, we do not allow to host your project on Savannah and
SourceForge at the same time, if Savannah is just a project mirror.
Your project development should happen primarily on Savannah.

How do you plan to use your Savannah account? I know that you have
closed it so the question is if you are moving to Savannah?

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we
will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the
tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply
directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we
will not receive such replies.

Regards.

Unfortunately, I've had to shut down my sourceforge.net
contact address temporarily due to spam.  You can reach me at
rkies@cpan.org.

Thanks once again,

Of course, please go ahead and change the, "Linux," references
to GNU/Linux.  Or I will make the changes at earliest
opportunity.

The direct URL is:

  http://downloads.sourceforge.net/  \
  ctalk-lang/ctalk0.0.12a.tar.gz?modtime=1190321823&big_mirror=0

so it should be okay to download the tarball directly; if
the download servers don't allow it, it may be necessary to
visit the project page:

 http://ctalk-lang.sourceforge.net

and go follow the link for the downloads on sourceforge.net.

Thanks once again,

Robert Kiesling

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in
Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are
described below.

"Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system that we like to
refer to as GNU/Linux, to emphasize the ideals of the Free Software
movement.

Would you mind changing references to Linux as an OS to GNU/Linux?

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we
will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

Registration Details

  • Name: Ctalk Object Oriented Extensions for C
  • System Name:  ctalk-lang
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

Ctalk provides object oriented extensions for C99.  Ctalk provides
library classes and methods that interact transparently with C
data types and allows programmers to add their own methods and classes.
The interpreter translates the object oriented extensions of the ctalk language into C, and then uses a compiler, GNU C at this stage of development, to produce the run time code. Like other object oriented C dialects, ctalk provides a run-time library that acts as a layer between the ctalk object protocols and C run-time libraries like glibc.  Unlike other object oriented C dialects, however, ctalk does not require any alterations to C source modules.  The source code can use only one or two objects, for example, in an otherwise standard C99 program.  At this time, the ctalk interpreter is in the alpha stage of development, and is undergoing revision, but a C99 compatible preprocessor, ctpp, is available.  The ctalk source code is on line at http://sf.net/projects/ctalk-lang/.
