Sorry for the delay but I had some difficulties to install a test environment on a MS-Windows machine (Cygwin + gcj + classpath + X11...). Finaly I installed all the gnu tools with a Ubuntu distribution on an old computer. I have a complete test environment only from today.

What I allready done is what follow:

- I  switch from java 1.5 to java 1.4 to be compliant with the gnu implementation of java.
- The compilation with GCJ succeed.
- The interpretation with GIJ succed but I still have some bugs to fix.

- I update all my java source headers with the new FSF address

- I update the copy of the license

- I change the icons I used with free png icons (LGPL) and add a README file to explain it.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.
If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.
Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards,
Jean-Michel

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are described below.

You ask if JDK was entirely under GPL, the answer is no, but there is a solution : please take a look at https://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/JavaIssues

So you have to test your project with GCJ + Classpath for example, or IcedTea and report succefull execution.

For swing, you can take a look here : http://developer.classpath.org/doc/javax/swing/package-summary.html

All headers are OK, except the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

Updated versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

(alternatively the GNU (L)GPLv3 standard notices include different wording that do not mention the FSF snail mail address - see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html#howto)

Please, add a README file in data folder containing origin of *.gif and their copyright notices.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.
To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.
Regards,

Jean-Michel

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Textometre
  • System Name:  textometre
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

'textometre' is or will be a free multi-platforms software (api and application) for the lexicometric/textometric exploration of textual resources. It tries to take advantage of XML and Unicode technologies for the text management. The code is entirely written in java. The GUI used swing. This software is a part of my PHD work, but I whish to make this tool useful for the textometric community and I want to open the source code in order to be able to develop with other people.
The source code can be downloaded from my web site:
      http://michel.jacobson.free.fr/noname/
This project must also lead to the definition of xml schemas for the coding of a textometric resource.

Other Software Required:

java version 1.5
I used the core api +
javax.swing.*
javax.xml.*
org.w3c.dom.*
org.xml.sax.*

Other Comments:

In the french version of this form, it is written: "Une source récurrente de problèmes est l'utilisation de Swing, car il n'y a pas pour l'intant d'implémentation libre de cette bibliothèque. (Le JDK n'est pas un Logiciel Libre). "

I thought that the JDK was now entirely under the GPL licence, including swing. Am I wrong?
