I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

You must determine whether your project can run on a Free Software Java suite (see https://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/JavaIssues and http://www.gnu.org/software/java/ for more information).

We recommend you to test your project using IcedTea, or GCJ + GNU Classpath, and ensure that your Java code runs on this Free Software Java suite.

IceTea is based on Sun's OpenJDK and uses free replacements for its proprietary parts. GCJ is the GNU Compiler for Java, part of the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection).  The Classpath project aims to develop a free and portable implementation of the Java API (the classes in the 'java' package).

More information is available at http://icedtea.classpath.org/ , http://gcc.gnu.org/ and http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/ .

Please provide us with more information about this point.

Also, I see there are dependencies other than sshtools and monit (which may be dependencies of the dependencies). Some of them appear to be released under the Apache Software License 1.1, which is incompatible with the GPL (Apache Software License 2.0 is compatible, though). Other dependencies are under the GNU GPL, but the version is not precised (is it "version 2 only" or "version 2 or any later version"?). This is important to determine the license consistency for your project. Please give us more information about those dependencies.

Please register your project once more with the changes mentioned above.

Make sure to apply all changes requested, so you will only need to re-register once.

The re-registration URL found in our acknowledgment of your earlier registration will direct you to the proper location where you can re-register your project.

Registration Details

  • Name: Mobile Administrator
  • System Name:  madmin
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later

This project is meant to ease system administrator who are on the move and dont have the luxury to connect to their systems using vnc, or ssh, due to bandwidth costs or limited keypad functionalities. This project is developed using Java. Basically it is a servlet that let user login to madmin, do application configuration and user administration and etc. It lets sysadmin connect to any system in network, issue commands either by choosing from dropdownlists or by manually typing them. It also lets sysadmin subscribe for sms alerts when a certain service/daemon behaves strange like goes to zombie, or consumes memory more than a limit. It is a portable application, with no restriction on platform and all sysadmin needs is a GPRS/internet connection and a browser (mobile/web). It is basically targetted towards mobile phones, but application can be also opened via a system. And the last good thing about it is that its a Free Software.

Other Comments:

The release attached, is NOT a release, its just a under development version. There are still a couple of week before i release a beta version after enough testing on my own.
