Thanks for the reply.

I'll close this registration at this point. If you wish to submit it again, once you're free of Sun's proprietary java suite, please feel free to re-register.

Cheers,

Steven.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hi,

Can you let me know of your progress please? What's the status of the testing and other alterations?

Cheers,

Steven

Hi,

That's fine, it's no problem for you to need some time to test your project. We just didn't know where you were at.

Please keep me posted on your progress.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Reply by the submitter:

Hi Steven,

I'm still on work to set up a testenvironment with 'GNU-Classpath'. I hope to
start my first GNU-classpath tests at the end of the next week. Hopefully the
Swing-engine and the Java 1.5 implementation is powerful enough for my Tool!
I report you as fast as I can.

Regards
Karsten

PS: Do you know anythink about the the opensource-plans of SUN in
conjunction with SUNS Java Version?

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Firstly, you must determine whether your project can run on a Free Software Java suite (see http://www.gnu.org/software/java/ for more information).

We recommend you to test your project using GCJ and GNU Classpath, and ensure that your Java code runs on this Free Software Java suite.

GCJ is the GNU Compiler for Java, part of the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection). The Classpath project aims to develop a free and portable implementation of the Java API (the classes in the 'java' package).

More information is available at http://gcc.gnu.org/ and http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/ .

Please provide us with more information about this point.

Secondly, in order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the LGPL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long. Currently, a few of your files are missing these statements.

In addition, if you haven't already, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GNU LGPL, available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

If some of your files cannot carry such notices (e.g. binary or image files), then you can add a README file in the same directory containing the copyright and license notices. Check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for further information.

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html#SEC4.

Additionally, please remove GIF image files from your project and replace them with an other format (such as PNG or JPEG).

Because of the patents (Unisys and IBM) covering the LZW compression algorithm which are used when making GIF files, it's impossible to have free software to generate proper GIFs. These patents also apply to the compress program.

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/gif.html.

Finally, Savannah's mission is to host free software projects, and we want the public to think of them as free software projects. A project name that says "open" will tend to lead people to think of the project as "open source" instead of "free software".

We would be glad if you accept to use "free" instead of "open" in your project name.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project. Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards.

A new project has been registered at Savannah
The project account will remain inactive until a site admin approve or discard the registration.

######### REGISTRATION ADMINISTRATION #########

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
Open-Simulation-Platform

System Group Name:
-----------------
osp

Type:
-----
non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU Lesser General Public License

Description:
------------
The LGPL-project 'Open-Simulation-Platform (OSP)' joins a rudimentary 2D/3D-CAD tool with layer-options and an interface for simulationsprograms in a plugable Java-GUI.

The CAD tool contains an interface for accessing a single or a library of class-files. This class-files are according 2D/3D Objects. You are invited to design some useful objects and shapes.

An other interface allows to access these CAD-Objects. So it will be possible to develope simple or complex mechanismen to control a given simulator, or it's also possible to implement processing tools in Java.

A third interface allows to design an load self programmed import- and exportfilter dynamically.

The currently project-page is reachable under:
1. http://www.ate.uni-duisburg.de:8080/hp-renny/download/osp/index.html
2. http://www.emdesigner.de/

Better use the first adress.

Other Software Required:
